Last night was great! THANK YOU Kate!!!!! you went above and beyond, but it was a great kick off to the restart of book club!!! Here are the books for the next 3 months. We will be mingling classics with non-fiction and fiction. If these books do not interest you and you would prefer to do a more young adult, feels good kind of book club, then feel free to start up another group. This book club is going to be about challenging ourselves and reading outside of our normal comfort zone. You may not like some of the books and that is good- it leads to discussion and increases our understanding of others, and seeing the world from a different viewpoint. I hope this isn't coming across as harsh- I just want more than a girls night out where we discuss who we like best of the boys in the ever present love triangles of many YA fictions. My children are zapping my brain cells on a daily basis and hope this monthly discussion of deeper things will re-stimulate some of those brain cells!
October 18th- Being George Washington by Glenn Beck (non-fiction)
November 15th- Unwind by Neal Shusterman (fiction)
December 13th (a week earlier than usually)- Catch-22 by Joseph Heller (classic)
Feel free to let me know what you think. If you would like to host a night, let me know (you do not need to try to live up to Kate's hosting- no one is quite as incredible as she!) If you host, you just need to provide a place to meet, a little treat (we can help bring things too!), and be ready to start the discussion with a question or two. I truly enjoyed the discussion last night and look forward to many more!
